Welcome Parents & Guardians
Created by parents and community members, Highline Academy was founded on the very spirit of full family engagement. We encourage the ongoing relationship between students, teachers, parents and guardians as parent/guardian involvement remains crucial to our success. Parents and guardians hold seats on our Board of Directors, run our Parents with Purpose (PwP) organization, and contribute countless volunteer hours to the school. Most importantly, parents/guardians can support the school and their children by staying informed. Now, with convenient and secure Veracross, you can find the following online in seconds:

• Attendance records • Assessment scores • Academic progress • Discipline summaries • Homework assignments • Registration records & Report Cards

Parent Testimonials: I have two children. My younger son was never very successful in our neighborhood schools. The first year of middle school was a disaster. As far as I could see, he spent the school year reading his own books. He got away with it. I don't think he was required to write even one paper. When I asked the principal if he could just take one honors class, she said "those classes are much bigger, with as many as 35 students, and the only difference is more homework. I don't think it's the right move." We kept thinking each year would be better, but we had to face facts. We got the last spot at Highline for seventh grade. I was so relieved that there was a school that would provide the increased expectations, but also the structure and support our son would need to achieve in school. Now he is in advanced math and reading. He still has to work hard to get average grades, but he's doing 9th grade algebra! He has also made many new friends.
When I consider that some of our friends and neighbors are paying from $13,000 to $23,000 per year for private school, I am so happy to be able to make a monthly contribution to Highline Academy. Our public schools cannot raise tuition like the private schools can. We are at the mercy of the voters and the legislators for our funding. We suffer during economic downturns with funding cuts and funny how we never get that money back when times are good.
I believe every parent who is able should make a regular contribution to the school. The Giving First web site makes it very easy to do. I would rather make a monthly contribution than send my son out selling wrapping paper and butter braids. Wouldn't you? Consider it a dollar a day to help support the fantastic opportunity you have at Highline Academy.
A grateful parent
