What makes HA special to you?
As a founding teacher at Highline Academy, it will always hold a special place in my heart. Highline is a place where everyone is seen as someone who is continually practicing the art of learning.
Teaching Philosophy
I believe in the charter school system as the most effective way to teach all students. Principals are ultimately responsible for the success of the schools and teachers are responsible for the learning in the classroom. When principals and teachers work together to make necessary changes in curriculum, analyze student progress and modify schedules, students do not fall through the cracks and learning is most effective.
Favorite Student Story
In Highline Academy’s first three years I was the Dean of Students, and also taught a small group of below grade-level middle school math students. Because of the freedom I was given to teach each student based upon their need, I was able to bring them to grade level prior to them graduating from 8th grade. Their successes in this class, and their experiences at Highline, give me immense hope for their successes in high school and beyond.
