How long have you been teaching?

In the past 10 years I’ve been a health educator, bilingual teacher and interpreter, and taught Spanish and ELA across the globe:  In Honduras (as a Peace Corps volunteer), NE Wisconsin (in my hometown), northern California, Uruguay (as an English Language Fellow with the U.S. Dept. of State) and Colorado (in that order!)

What makes HA special to you?

Highline is an inspiring, intense, and introspective place in which to invest your time and energy. The students and teachers here never cease to amaze me. I feel very fortunate that my children are able to experience this dynamic learning community with me.

Teaching Philosophy

"Who dares to teach must never cease to learn."
-- John Cotton Dana

"A teacher is one who makes himself progressively unnecessary."
-- Thomas Carruthers

“Teachers open the door, but you must enter by yourself."
-- Chinese Proverb

Favorite Student Story

Well, of course the ELL kids have the best quotes! Last year I had a long conversation with a kindergarten student who was excitedly attempting to recount all the impressive details of a dream he had and opened with “Mz. Galindo, one time I saw a treasure in my eye!”
