What makes HA special to you?
Highline Academy has such a unique and innovative approach to education. I am challenged to learn and grow as a teacher each and every day. At Highline, we are always putting the needs of students first. I strongly believe this philosophy will serve to instill a desire for excellence and life-long learning within each student.
Teaching Philosophy
I strongly believe that all students can learn, yet everyone learns at different rates and in different styles. As a teacher, I try to meet students where they are and teach to their strengths. Differentiating my instruction allows me to reach students in ways they can understand and allows the students to showcase their own learning in ways they are most comfortable.
Favorite Student Story
At the beginning of the year, students are given their textbooks and asked to complete a form on which they note the condition of the book they are given. Most students write “good” or “okay.” Well, underneath the heading “Condition of book” one student wrote the word, “exquisite.” What a wonderful descriptive adjective, not to mention a creative and hilarious way to say that they book is in good shape!
