Enrollment Process

Highline Academy Participates in the
Denver Public Schools (DPS) SchoolChoice Process.

SchoolChoice Round 2 is open and Round 1 results are now available! Log in to your application to see your student's school match. If you didn't participate in Round 1, or you would like to re-explore your options, submit a Round 2 application. Applications are processed on a first-come, first-served basis. If a waitlist exists, your student will be added to the list in the date and time order within your given priority. Current students do not need to submit an application.

A Note for ECE-4 Applicants: School matches for the 2026-27 school year will come from UPK until April 1. Learn more about the application process or read the recent update.

DPS believes all students should have the same access to quality schools, regardless of their background or where they live in Denver. Any DPS student (or non-DPS student) who wants to attend a school other than their automatically assigned neighborhood school can take part in SchoolChoice. Highline Academy Southeast is not considered a neighborhood school and only accepts students based on the School Choice application process and priorities.

How it works:

  • Find: First, to prepare for SchoolChoice, learn more about schools in which you might be interested. Check out the DPS School Finder, read the Great Schools Enrollment Guides, and talk to schools you are interested in (attend a tour or join Highline’s enrollment mailing list!) You will be able to apply and rank up to 12 schools.

  • Apply: Create your account. We recommend using your Parent Portal account username and password to log in, but you may also use your email address. You must create a SchoolChoice account or use an existing DPS Parent Portal login to begin your application. Then, fill out and submit the SchoolChoice application — including ranking your most preferred schools (up to 12) — any time during the Choice window. If your student was waitlisted at a school in Round 1, do not submit a Round 2 application to the same school, as your student already has a spot on the school's waitlist.

    • Please closely consider how you rank your school preferences. If you get accepted into your #2 ranked school, you will not appear on the waitlist of schools ranked below #2, but will remain on the #1 ranked school’s waitlist.

    • If you are new to DPS, you will need to upload your student’s birth certificate and proof of address.

  • Results: DPS matches students to schools based on those preferences, as well as school admission priorities and available space.

  • Register: Your accepted school will reach out to you with registration and other time-sensitive information.

  • Questions: Please refer to the Frequently Asked Questions section on the DPS School Choice website.

Important note:

We accept students up until October 1st. We have priorities for siblings and as a result, your student’s waitlist status may change to accommodate sibling attendance. We realize the importance of having siblings attend the same school and will work with your family to the best of our ability.
